Advice For Nurses

Being a nurse takes dedication and perseverance. It’s not the most glamorous of duties and may be demanding but at the same time it can be one of the most rewarding of careers because you get to see your patients recovering from serious ailments under your care while you make sure their safety and treatment are being taken care of.

Nursing as a job needs the true dedication of its practitioners. There are many things that could deter a new nurse from the job. Things like latex allergies or the violence in the environment could be factors.

The Problems of Latex Allergy - You are probably going to experience this a lot as a nurse. You may develop rashes all over your hands caused by powders that are on the latex gloves that you use to perform treatments and other health care procedures. The problem of anaphylactic shock is a serious one that should be treated with caution.

There are cotton liners or synthetic gloves that you can buy to replace a powdered pair of gloves. However, using this is only appropriate if you need to wet your hands while working.

In order to avoid this, always request for powder-free gloves. If there’s no available powder-free gloves, powdered ones are available. After using them, dry your hands after thoroughly washing them.

Issues of Violence - Your being a nurse gives you a view into the heart of violence. Since all people in the hospital are busy, they are more likely to blow their top. Nurses working is remote areas are at risk from all fronts. Even nurses who work in mental health centers and emergency rooms can still be victims of emotional, psychological or physical violence.

The secret to safety is knowledge. Be familiar with your patients. Know who among them is capable of violent behavior. Also, be familiar with patients who have a history of alcoholism, drug addiction or dementia. By staying one step ahead you can be prepared for the worst.

Resume Writing For Electricians

Friday, June 20th, 2008
by Salvador Paez

Right after graduating from electrician school, the first thing you want to do is find a job. When applying for a job, you have to make a rsum.

A rsum provides the basic information about your work history and experience. They show an employer whether you are qualified for the job that you seek. You may have little or no experience in writing a rsum. You do not have to worry: here are some tips to help you write your own rsum.

Application forms may be enough to get you some kinds of work. But electricians are professionals and they need to pass a resum instead of an application form to prove that they are really qualified for the job. Application forms may be easy to fill out but they just won’t do.

There are countless ways for you to make your resum good enough for the job. It is always important to note that your resum should showcase your talents, skills, background, and experience. If you’re applying for work as an electrician, you should include the school you graduated from, your specialization and if any, your professional experience.

Your resum must be short and easy to read, while at the same time should feature all your strong points. It should not feature information that is not important for your employment or is not related to the position you seek. The first time an employer read you resum, that person should be immediately able to identify what makes you perfect for the job.

The following should be seen when you want to write a resum for electricians:

* Your contact information (Full name, address, telephone number, mobile number, email address). * Your qualifications and educational background. * Employment objective or goal. * Work experience, if any. * Special skills and abilities

Do not write your references on the rsum - to place them in a separate sheet. If your potential employer asks for references, then give them out. A reference is a person that can attest to the truth of the information on your rsum.

by James Redder

Looking for work is stressful. The most anxiety inducing part of all this, as all will agree is the job interview. You may well be anxious in advance of an interview, which may lead to you being nervous during the interview - and this of course can end up causing you to do poorly in the job interview. Doing well in these situations depends to a large extent on being well prepared for the interview.; A job interview is what employers use to gauge how good of a fit you would be for the job - even more so than your resume. An interviewer will ask you specific questions about how you would handle the job and failing to be prepared for this could be disastrous.

When you are preparing for the job interview recruitment process, remember one important thing that you are preparing for the job interview and the interviewer is also preparing for taking your interview. In addition, to this the interviewer will plan some points based on your career and will try to test you every moment of the interview. The interviewer will try to trick you with various types of questions and you must prepare yourself for such tricky questions. Prepare for your answers. Put your answers based on the facts and your qualification. Because, the entire outcome from the interview is dependent on how you answer the questions and how smartly you justify yourself. You want to make it easy for them to justify their careers of achievement by choosing you.

Always be ready to be able to say why you are looking for this job, why you want to do this job in this particular organization and salary if asked. Questions like what are your accomplishments, what are your skills, according to your previous supervisors, what you expect from this particular job are asked in interview. You must answer the questions honestly and in descriptive manner.

Have some examples to give along with your answers. Think carefully and choose some examples that highlight your skills and accomplishments. There are other factors which go into doing well in a job interview; for instance, try to build a rapport with your interviewer - if they enjoy talking to you, you are much more likely to get the job.

Be prepared when you walk in for a job interview. Have at least (preferably more) two copies of your resume, three references and if applicable, your portfolio. This is not just a conversation you’ll be having, but you will have the opportunity to let the interviewer get to know you and make as strong of a case as possible for yourself.

A very important thing to prepare for a job interviewer is a few company-specific questions for your interviewer. Asking these questions will work for you by demonstrating that you have put some thought into this position and are serious about this job and this company. Your interviewer will take note of this.

To be dressed well is equally important. Making a first impression is half the battle won. Dress proficiently and at ease. Have a good combination of formals. Speak clearly and honestly. Be confident and alert. Have a positive mind set and show lot of energy and enthusiasm.

In Closing

To briefly sum up the themes of this article, if you want to do well in a job interview, learn a bit about the company and draw from your experience to make the strongest possible case that you are the ideal candidate for this position while displaying confidence and personablility - this will ensure that you do well in any job interview.

Safety Training Videos To Keep Your People Safe

Saturday, June 14th, 2008
by Salvador Paez

Companies usually require their employees to go through some sort of safety training at any one time, but the problem is when the company can’t afford to set aside time for their employees to attend safety training programs or seminars during work hours.

When that happens, using training videos is one of the best alternatives. Although formal safety training is always the best way to conduct things, training videos show the basics of safety almost as effectively. Safety videos deliver a lot of information for the viewer to digest in a short time, which, when you have little time, is definitely a good thing.

Safety training videos make sure that the entire class or all the people viewing the video get exactly the same information as the others. Because what is received by one is received by all, there remains a great deal of consistency when it comes to the teaching. This also avoids information being left out by accident.

The good thing with safety training videos is that the employee can watch it at his leisure, without the need to gather everyone together in one room to attend a single lecture. This makes the training more flexible, though some training methods are better when the employees can interact during the process.

From construction safety training to laboratory safety training, there are as many safety videos as you can imagine. A ton of websites offer to sell their videos to companies, with things such as manuals included. Safety training videos work best for very large companies with a very big population that is continually expanding. This not only cuts the costs that they would’ve had from hiring a trainer but also makes sure everybody is getting the same thing.

Safety training videos can be also be custom made for a certain company, showing the various safety measures in place in the company as the training is going along. This is especially good for companies that have workers assigned to hands on work.

After your training is over and you have a license, you must remember that it is highly probable that you will have to start with hourly wages instead of monthly salaries.

Make Sure to Use the Right Resume Styles

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008
by Carlee Evie

The job market is extremely competitive, and you want to make the best impression possible. While there hundreds of resume styles being used by job seekers, you want to take the time to choose the right one.

You may be wondering why there even has to be so many styles. Well, for starters, resumes aren’t just presented as physical documents any more. There’s a growing trend for people to view documents like resumes on the computer. A style that works splendidly as a printed document just will not work as well when sent through email or fax. So, this has naturally led to more styles for each medium.

Then there is also the fact that some positions practically demand a very specific format or resume style, so it pays to be adaptable and make tweaks to your resume. After all, the resume is intended to show off your skills, so you want it to show your capabilities in the best light.

By far, the most widespread form of resume writing is the chronological style, which as the name implies lists all of the positions that you have worked in starting with the most current.

The functional style resume is a bit newer, but it’s steadily growing in popularity. Unlike the chronological style, you use this resume to list your very best accomplishments and qualifications first, followed by the just slightly less impressive ones. The advantage of this resume is that it makes it easy for the employer to read it quickly and decide whether or not you sound like someone who is qualified for the job. It also lets you give your strengths the center stage.

There are a few other commonly used resume styles, but these are mostly variations of the two aforementioned styles. This brings up an important point: do not be afraid to mix up resume styles to suit your purpose or a specific need. Remember, you want to showcase your abilities the best way possible and using the ideal resume style will allow you to do just that.
